ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday directed the acting Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to prepare a policy vision for FIA in one week in order to improve the performance of the department.

Chairing a high level meeting of officers of Islamabad Police, FIA and NACTA in Islamabad on Saturday, Nisar discussed various issues relating to policy guidelines as well as administrative measures for improving the performance of these respective departments.

Nisar directed the acting DG FIA to prepare a policy vision for FIA in one week in order to improve the performance of the department. He stressed the need to achieve targets by setting certain time frames. In addition to this, he also emphasised on bringing swiftness in the process of investigation, especially regarding corruption cases.

He ordered a list of officers to be prepared that are known for having questionable reputations. These officers will then be removed from the FIA.

Nisar also directed the acting DG to furnish a proposal to the ministry regarding payment packages of FIA staff members and to also address the issue of the shortage of staff within the organisation.

Expressing his displeasure on the entry of two foreign girls entering the country through the Islamabad airport, Nisar lamented that immigration counters at airports reflect a country’s image and he would not like to see anyone ‘tarnish’ the image of Pakistan.

He ordered to further strengthen the immigration cells working in the country and directed to work on technological lines and intelligence in this regard.

Reviewing the security situation in Islamabad, he ordered the IG Islamabad to strengthen the vigilance process on security check points without making the residents suffer. He directed that the working hours of the officials deputed on the security check posts be strictly confined to eight hours.

Nisar also stressed that police officers should take extra ordinary measures in order to improve law and order as the country is going through an ‘extra ordinary situation’.
