Talk at Oxford university: Ex-NADRA boss recalls achievements

Former chairman says UN wanted to use Nadra’s services for post-conflict and disaster management system in Africa.

KARACHI: Tariq Malik, the former chairman of National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) was invited for a talk at the Oxford University. This was his first public appearance after the recent saga of politically motivated controversies, a press release said on Wednesday. Tariq Malik talked on how he transformed Nadra into a profitable entity. Responding to an audience at the Flora Anderson Hall Somerville College, he said that whatever has been achieved over the past years should be preserved in a positive sense. Malik said the UN wanted to use Nadra’s services for post-conflict and disaster management system in Africa. He discussed the eGovernment solutions Nadra has rolled out in last five years under his leadership that has helped in the disaster management and rehabilitation process - ranging from Watan Card, identifying tax evaders to Benazir income support programme.
