Six people were allegedly kidnapped on Monday morning as they were on their way to Hangu Bazaar from Balyamin, on the outskirts of the district.

Hangu DPO Iftikhar Ahmad said the incident occurred at around 9am. The six men are reportedly currency dealers and were on their way to a shop in Haideri market when unidentified men intercepted their pickup van near Shaga and whisked them away at gunpoint.

After the incident, police launched a search operation and found the pickup abandoned at a roadside in Samana, shared the official. There was no sign of the kidnapped men or their abductors, he added.

The vehicle was impounded while the missing men were identified as Usman, his father Mehboob, their driver Shahjee, and Zakir and Shafiq. The identity of the sixth person could not yet be ascertained. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
