Media talks: SMIU to hold media conference today

KARACHI: A three-day national media conference, organised by the Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s (SMIU) department of media studies, will start from today [Monday] at 9am. The inaugural session will be conducted by journalist IA Rehman. Former minister Javed Jabbar will be the keynote speaker and SMIU vice-chancellor Dr Muhamamd Ali Shaikh will deliver the welcome address. Two technical sessions will also be held that day, titled ‘Media and National Integration’ and ‘Contemporary Print Media’. Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, former federal minister for information and broadcasting, will chair the session while senator Raza Rabbani, Pakistan Peoples Party’s deputy secretary general, will co-chair.
