LAHORE:

A law officer of the provincial government on Friday told the Lahore High Court that a summary for approval had been sent to the chief minister for introducing a separate pay-scale for court employees.

Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial was hearing a petition moved by LHC questioning lack of a 50 per cent raise in their judicial allowance.

The petitioners said that the government was delaying the implementation of a 50 per cent increase on the allowance for the LHC employees.

The chief justice remarked that the court was exercising restraint as the matter pertained to LHC employees.

“The court would have passed an order by now if the matter pertained to general public,” he said.

He adjourned the hearing till February 6 and asked the government to inform the court about decision on the summary by the chief minister.
