LANDIKOTAL:

A mortar shell exploded in a scrap shop in Landikotal, Khyber Agency, on Thursday, killing two brothers on the spot.

Shahid Afridi, an official of the Landikotal political administration, said the incident occurred in the remote village of Bazaar Zakha Khel, in the Tabi area.

The father of the victims, Mosam Afridi, told officials that he was outside his scrap shop while his sons, 10-year-old Hidayat and 11-year-old Hijrat, were separating irons from the scrap when a mortar shell exploded, killing both on the spot.

The shop was completely destroyed due to the impact of explosion.

Similarly, earlier this week, six children of the same family were killed in a hand-grenade blast in Hangu. The children were playing with the grenade assuming that it was a ball when it exploded, killing all of them on the spot.
