2 killed, 18 hurt in Dera Allahyar blast

Two people, including a rickshaw driver, died and 18 others were wounded in a roadside bombing in Dera Allahyar in Balochistan’s Jaffarabad district on Thursday.


Unidentified persons planted an IED in a car, which was parked near a roadside hotel on the Sindh-Balochistan highway in Dera Allahyar. The device was detonated remotely, according to Deputy Commissioner Zafar Bukhari.

The injured were moved to a nearby hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll to two, while the injured were shifted to hospitals where three are in critical condition.

The Bomb Disposal Squad estimated that 15 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the attack. A truck and rickshaw were also damaged in the explosion. RPO Jaffarabad Kamal Hassan said investigations are underway into the incident.
