Heritage boost: UNESCO honours Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Owing to its historical importance, the Rawalpindi city has been selected as a city to implement UNESCO’s new historic Urban Landscape Approach. “The Word Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and Pacific Region (WHITRAP) Shanghai has selected the city,” said Rawalpindi National College of Arts (NCA) Director Dr Nadeem Omar Tarar. NCA Rawalpindi played a key role in this earning this honour. In this connection Rawalpindi Historic Urban Landscape Project Symposium will be held on February 5. Dr Tarar said an agreement is likely to be signed between NCA and Rawalpindi District Administration for implementation of the Approach which will help bring substantial investment for preservation of cultural heritage.
