LAHORE: A single bench of the Lahore High Court granted bail on Tuesday to a 70 year old Ahmadi doctor accused of pretending to be a Muslim. He has been in jail since November 25, 2013. Earlier a subordinate court had dismissed his bail petition. Counsel for Dr Masood Ahmed said a group in Lahore was implicating Ahmadis in false cases. He requested the court to grant Dr Ahmed bail, as he was an elderly man. Counsel for the complainant said Ahmed was found reciting the Holy Quran and preaching his faith, which was prohibited under Section 298-C of the Pakistan Penal Code.
