Energetic platform: Working towards a better future

With an aim to look for alternative energy sources, a four-day workshop starts at the Quaid-i-Azam University.

ISLAMABAD: With an aim to look for alternative energy sources, a four-day workshop on solar energy harvesting started yesterday at the Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad. The workshop saw over 50 scholars from various local and foreign universities deliberate on the issue, providing them an opportunity to share their experience and knowledge. “Depletion of fossil fuel and absence of alternative energy resources have severely affected countries like Pakistan,” said Tayyab Malik, member of the organization committee. “There is an urgent need to look for alternative energy sources and also economise the energy utilisations.” The workshop “Surface Multi-Plasmonics: Fundamentals and Applications for Solar Energy Harvesting” has been organised by the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) and the department of electronics of the university.  The workshop will focus on educating students, scholars and scientists on the surface multi-plasmonics and equip them with skills to carry out research in the field.
