NEW DELHI: Clothes and accessories in neon colours were a huge trend last year. But 2014 is going to be a year of pastels, Indian designers say.

The trend of neon began with clothes and was soon visible in accessories like layered neck pieces, bangles, bags, earrings, clutches, hair pins and clips.

However, you can now reserve the neon in your wardrobe for another season. This year try colours like peach, coral, cream and white, said a statement.

Here's what the designers have to say:

Sounia Gohil: Neon was a big hit last year and everyone was seen sporting the look. However, this year it is on its way out. This year we will witness more of pastel shades like powder blue, light yellow, orchid and a lot of lighter colours. Also, more soothing colours will reign this year.

Debarun Mukherjee: 2014 is more about muted colours. There are two trends - one is tone on tone and the other is very bright pastel shades like ice-cream colours. For my spring resort wear, I am looking at lots of colours and prints. I plan silhouettes which have a skin tone. I am also looking at tone on tone of pastel shades of pink with a deep pink combination. They are not a shade or two different shades, but several shades in contrast.

Aditi Holani: I personally think we have had too much of neon and bling. But now pastels will make a comeback this year. For summer, white is always a big choice. Pastels like peach, coral and cream will be seen more in the coming summer collection.
