Gujrat raid: 11 illegal gateway exchanges busted

A joint team of the Federal Investigation Agency’s National Response Centre for Cyber Crime (NR3C) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted a raid in Gujrat and unearthed  a huge set-up of illegal internal gateway exchanges.


According to the NR3C officials, a tip-off was received that illegal gateways were in operation at House No. 16/1977 Noorpur Paday Railway Road in Gujrat.


After secret surveillance of the premises, the joint raiding team raided the house and successfully recovered ten gateways (8 ports) and one gateway (4 ports) in operational condition.


Approximately 800 SIMs of different cellular companies, two CPUs, two LCDs and other related equipment were also seized, a member of the raiding party said while talking to The Express Tribune.


Two persons, found to be allegedly operating the set-up, were also arrested. A case has been registered with FIA NR3C Police Station Lahore.
