Power crisis: ‘Govt making efforts to resolve issue’

It is the government’s top priority to increase the efficiency of the existing power plants, says envoy.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s ambassador to Tokyo Farukh Amil said that the government would utilise all existing resources and would set up new coal, hydel power plants and use civil nuclear technology for overcoming the energy crisis. Speaking to members of Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), he said that it was the government’s top priority to increase the efficiency of the existing power plants. He suggested training young people from Pakistan to learn the Japanese corporate management culture. In order to help Pakistan create employment opportunities for the youth, he requested the JCCI’s support for duty concession of Pakistani textile products on lines of the EU. JCCI Chairman Akio Mimura expressed appreciation for economic reforms undertaken by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif which had given greater confidence to international business communities to engage with Pakistan.
