Trend File: Cuff Up

You heard it here first: Ear cuffs are here to stay.

They’re everywhere. You heard it here first. Ear cuffs are here to stay. With both Bollywood and Hollywood superstars donning these ear pieces at events, parties, launches and the like, it’s a miracle they’re still available to buy on the market.

Sonam Kapoor

Ear cuffs are the simplest, trendiest way to go. Not only are they affordable, but they make a style statement like no other, and they don’t require an extra ear piercing!

Jacqueline Fernandez

Cuffs on the red carpet have ranged from barely there, to in-your-face. It’s up to you how you carry off this trend. Go for a small cuff for starters, such as that worn by Emma Watson. You can gradually work up to an elegant, studded cuff such as the one Jennifer Lawrence is seen wearing, and if you want to double the fun, do a Jessica Alba and wear a cuff in each ear!

Jennifer Lawrence

Leading Bollywood ladies such as Jacqueline Fernandez and Sonam Kapoor have also stepped out with blinged out ears. We love Fernandez’s ear cuff, and Kapoor has been spotted sporting the trend more than one! Our very own Deena Rahman has made the ear cuff somewhat of a signature, and flaunts it like nobody’s business. She designs them too, and HSY was recently spotted working one of her creations at a party.

Trust us, head to your nearest jewellery store, be it at Gulf, Sunday Bazaar or Sentiments, you need to get your hands on ear cuffs.

I always take a quick glance at the Tribune fashion column expecting to see some Desi style updates, but no- I see the polar opposite. It never ceases to astound me why Pakistanis have an itch to follow Western trends that are long done and dusted. I think this sums it up perfectly; if I wanted Western fashion advice, I wouldn't be on here.

Rant over.
