Punitive action: MPAs asked to abide by traffic rules

Plans for new parking lots under way in order to address the city’s traffic snarls.

QUETTA: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Quetta Abdul Razaq Cheema says he has submitted a letter to the speaker of the provincial assembly about measures taken by the city’s traffic police against vehicles with tinted windows and no number plates. “Members of the Balochistan Assembly should also comply with the law in this regard or face action,” he said. According to SSP Traffic Police Saleem Lehri, the city’s traffic police filed 90,000 challans against drivers violating rules during the last year and recovered Rs 20 million in fines. Speaking to the media on Monday, he added that plans for new parking lots were under way in order to address the city’s traffic snarls.
