KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) called on Monday for the record relating to the posting of Rashidullah Khan, brother of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Mushahidullah Khan, as the country manager of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in New York.

On Friday, the high court had restrained Rashidullah from taking charge of the office even if he has reached New York.

Mansoor Ahmed Dillhu, a retired employee of the airline, had sought contempt proceedings against PIA Managing Director Captain Junaid Younus, Rashidullah Khan and other officials for posting Rashidullah in violation of the stay order granted by the SHC.

He claims that Rashidullah has been illegally granted a back-dated promotion in July 2013 to be effective from Jan 1, 2007, while he and his family members were given extraneous benefits because his brother Senator Mushahidullah was serving the ruling party.

The plaintiff submitted that the PIA illegally nominated Rashidullah to be posted at its New York office as country manager despite the fact that he did not meet the necessary requirements for a foreign posting. Born on Aug 10, 1956, Rashidullah is due to retire in a couple of years, therefore, he cannot be allowed a foreign posting.

On Jan 9, the bench had suspended the operation of the notification regarding the posting of Rashidullah as country manager in New York.
