KARACHI:

If you are a resident of Korangi and want to register the ownership of your house or get domicile certificate for your children, just look around the corner to the newly inaugurated Korangi district’s deputy commissioner’s office.

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui at the inauguration of the office on Sunday said, “All the issues of the residents will be resolved on priority.” He said that they are going to work hard and make the district an ideal district, in which the working staff along with deputy commissioner would be available round-the-clock. “Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)’s anti-encroachment cell also would be on disposal for two days in a week,” he added.

The district is a residency where people from different backgrounds live so if we are successful it could then be replicated to other parts of the city, Siddiqui hoped.

The commissioner applauded the decision of Sindh government to make another district of Karachi, which for him could resolve the issues of the people living on coastal belts and fishermen.

“Korangi’s cricket grounds and stadiums will be functional so that extra-curricular activities could be carried out in future,” he added.

The commissioner also directed Deputy Commissioner Zubair Ahmed Channa to organise a meeting of the different stakeholders, including trade unionists and federations so that he is aware about all the issues. “As the city’s biggest industrial area falls under this district, there is a need for implementing the health and educational reforms so that people of the working-class could contribute to the economy,” the commissioner observed.

Earlier, the newly appointed deputy commissioner, Zubair Ahmed Channa, had also briefed about the rest of the issues in the vicinity and promised to resolve them.
