Youth festival: Mass participation witnessed on second day of tehsil games

LAHORE: As many as 57,233 people participated in the Punjab Youth Festival competitions on the second day of its tehsil-level games on Sunday.

Out of these, 17,510 won their games. 

In Nishter Town, 96 people competed in various events and 19 were victorious. In basketball, Khan’s Team beat Asghar’s Team. Muhammad Zeeshan won the chess competition.

In Shalimar Town, a total of 176 people participated in various events and 44 won. In a hardball cricket match, Riaz Club beat Tigers club.

As many as 168 people competed in Aziz Bhatti Town and 84 returned triumphant. In tennis tape ball cricket Ashraf’s Team defeated Khadim’s Team.

At Iqbal Town, there were 154 competitors out of which 23 won. At Wagha Town, 366 youth participated in the games and 151 won.

Similar competitions were held across the province.

From tehsils of Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, there were 5,508 participants and 1,879 winners.

In Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot, there were 711 participants and 239 won.

In Okara and Pakpattan, 7,004 came out for the competitions and 1,524 were winners. At Vehari, Lodharan and Khanewal, 3,621 participated in various events and 1,748 were victorious.

In Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, out of 1,320 players, 657 qualified for the next round.

In Rajanpur, Layyah and Muzaffargarh, 3,344 people participated in various events and 596 were winners.

Nearly 2,573 people participated in sporting events at Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock and win favoured 249.

In Bhakkar, Khushab and Mianwali, 1,082 people participated and 442 moved into the next round.

In Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Narowal, 2,034 locked horns in several events and 1,013 were triumphant.

Mini-marathon titles

A mini-marathon race was organised at Model Town on Sunday.

The boys’ race was won by Ali Abbas. Haseeb Ahmed, Naveed Ahmed and Abu Baker finished second, third and fourth respectively.

The girl’s race was won by Fatima Saleem followed by Sidra Akram and Ayesha Fayyaz. Over 1,300 participants featured in the boys’ race. MPA Mohsin Latif was the chief guest. Model Town Assistant Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio, Gulberg TMO Mian Nadeem Anwer and TSO Asif Virk were also present.
