Shoot out: Two killed over land dispute

Police say members of two parties had a scuffle in a district court during hearing of the case.

RAWALPINDI: Two persons were killed over a land dispute in the limits of the Saddar Bauroni Police Station on Saturday, police said. According to the police, one Abdul Hameed and the Akseer Group had a dispute on a piece of land, and earlier in the day, members of both the party had a scuffle in a district court during hearing of the case. Later, members of the Akseer Group went to the Gorakpur area and opened fire on Abdul Hameed, Saeed Fazal and Abdul Waheed. As a result, Hameed and Fazal died on the spot while Waheed sustained bullet injuries. The injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital by the police. Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased placed the bodies on the Adila Road and staged a protest. They alleged that the police failed to arrest the assailants despite being present at a nearby police picket. Due to the protest, traffic jam was witnessed on the main road for several hours. Later, SP Saddar assured the protesters that a action will be taken against the three police officials who showed negligence while performing duty at the picket.
