ISLAMABAD: Six affidavits, including that of former president Pervez Musharraf, were submitted before the Supreme Court in the case of Masood Janjua, missing since July 2005. A three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja resumed the hearing into the case and rejected the affidavit of former defence secretary Syed Athar Ali Abbas, asking him to resubmit it before the next hearing. The affidavits of former Attorney General Malik Abdul Qayoom, former Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah and former Director General National Crisis Management Cell Brigadier Javed Iqbal Cheema were submitted. The affidavits of Col (retd) Jehangir Akhtar and Brig (retd) Mansoor Saeed were presented in sealed envelopes. The court reviewed the affidavits and rejected the plea for confidentiality. Assistant Director (Legal) Ministry of Defence Waseem Qureshi said he would need time to submit the four remaining affidavits of former army officials. The court adjourned the case for three weeks.
