LAHORE: A woman hit an elite force officer while reversing her car at a high speed outside the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s house in Lahore, Express News reported on Saturday.

DSP Model Town revealed that the woman, Anum Zia, is the daughter of Pakistan People Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia. Qasim reportedly reached the scene of the incident and was trying to negotiate with the police.

Speaking to the media, Zia said that he is glad that the police officer, identified as Ashfaq Ahmed Haidri, is not severely injured and that his daughter did not suffer any injuries either. He added his daughter has been granted bail and the police is conducting an investigation into the matter.

The Model Town police had earlier taken Anum into custody. A case was also registered against her by the police.

The officer was earlier reported to be critically injured.

The car that Anum was driving reportedly belonged to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). Anum's father, Qasim is the former president of PHF.

Conflicting statements

The PPP leader's daughter told Express News that she was looking for a friend's house when her car hit the officer.

The police, however, stated that Anum had been roaming around the chief minister’s house before the incident took place.

It was reported that the elite force had tried to stop her but she tried to get away.

While talking to Express News, Anum said that the police outside the Punjab chief minister's house stopped her and checked her bag but only found toffees in it, further adding that the officers hit her car with a steel rod.

"There was no one else in the car at the time of the incident," she stated.

According to initial details, there were two other people in Anum's car at the time of the incident.

The police stated that she had no driving license. In her statement, Anum said she had learnt to drive in Britain and does not have a Pakistani driving license.

I agree with Asfand. It was a simple accident. The policemen in front of the CM's house terrorized Anum. She was alone and they broke her windows and banged the car with steel rods will she was sitting inside. How come no one reported that the 'state property' car was broken by the policemen, not her. We are supposed to feel safe with police around.

The Police Officer was sent home from the Hospital 1 hour after he was admitted with 0 injuries.

First off - She drove without a Pakistani license but in the majority of countries around the world having a license from another country is good enough, you are not always required by law to have a license in the country you are visiting ( You think that people traveling and renting cars are taking a new driving license in each country? )

Second of all, This happening outside the opposing political party house when her father is a leader within PPP you honestly cannot see that this is blown out of proportion for political reasons then you are seriously deluded. This is Media, you think a headlane is going to say - "Police officer in car accident with politicians daughter, both are fine and no injuries" ?

Sad to see people never questioning information.
