Hasan – a student from Hangu - tackled a bomber on January 6 who had come to attack his school at a time when hundreds of students were inside. The brave boy died while protecting others.
“I feel saddened that violence took another child's life in my country; I feel proud that I belong to a country where many brave and courageous people like Aitizaz Hasan are born,” Malala said.
Malala herself was attacked by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) gunmen in Swat in 2012 for her vocal opposition of the militant group.
“Sacrificing his own life, Hasan saved hundreds of innocent young students from getting killed; I feel proud of his pious and courageous act. I wish his sacrifice brings peace to my people and my country,” she said.
Civilian honour
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief of police Nasir Khan Durrani recommended Aitizaz Hasan for a top civilian honour.
Durrani has written to the provincial chief minister recommending Hasan for the posthumous award, a police statement issued late on January 9 said.
"The suicide bomber tried to enter the school where hundreds of students were studying. Aitizaz Hasan sacrificed his life and stopped the bomber with bravery and courage," the police statement said.
"He saved the lives of hundreds of innocent students with his extreme valour and bravery."
Pakistan has several categories of civilian award and it will fall to the government to decide which, if any, Hasan should receive.
Hasan's father Mujahid Ali Bangash told AFP on Thursday he felt not sadness but pride at his son's death.
"Many people are coming to see me but if they try to express sympathy, I tell them to congratulate me instead on becoming the father of a martyr," he said.
"I will be even more than happy if my second son also sacrifices his life for the country."
Local media are calling Hasan a hero, while social media is demanding recognition for him.

Good
Aitizaz is a real hero and he will be remembered forever in over hearts insha Allah and in future it is expected that malala will become a politician like altaf hussain who is in london and does,nt know the situation of pakistan and gives bad statements about our some good leaders like nawaz sharif and imran khan
Very good step taken by Kpk govt finally Aitizaz is our hero.
He did a lot of pluck
Malala has nothing to do with this child's bravery. She is not even in Pakistan! What this young boy has done, no police would have the courage to do it. Who can look at a suicide bomber in the eye and have the courage to attack him head on? Only a very selfless person who puts others above himself! What a brave young person Pakistan lost, far braver than any politician!!
I am speechless, yet proud at the same time. Children are the future of every nation, and future generations. With kids like this we will rise and shine. Hats off to Hassan's parents for the upbringing. Inna Lilla he Wa Ina Illhe rajeoon
Malala missing the attention, cheap stunt for publicity
@Mirza: She (Malala) could have donated to his family without publicly announcing it. When you publicly announce that you are giving so much money to his family, it sounds more like an advertisement of your charity organization.
What a brave kid. Our police and army should learn from this kid. But was it necessary to bring the name of Malala into this?
Aitzaz bravery is commendable. This is the real jihad. May Allah give his family the strength to bear the loss
still a better love story than twilight
Dear Malala, Kindly keep your donation money to yourself.
It didn't have to be a top new's ET, don't why such importance is being given to Malala and that only for 5 Lakh Rs.
In Pakistan, Kids look more sensible & brave than their politicians
A young boy has taught the government that you do not need All Party Conferences or dialogue to stop this abomination, its courage & resolve that can stop this enemy and mind set.
Rest in peace Aitizaz
In the mess created by Pakistan Army and it maniac generals, it is the civilians who are doing the clean up and making sacrifices. We don't know what is army doing other than giving plaques to cricketers like Afridi.
Well done Malala
Hasan ,You save several hundred children. Great work...
May his soul rest in peace. Malala got rich for no good reason.
@TypicalPakistani:::How long is it since you are sleeping sir.btw your question is true to your name, indifferent to the world's current affairs
Malala has become rich...........
Please Malala, do not divide Pakistani opinion any more. Put this money in the mouth of your father. Yes, Aitizaz is a hero and deserves respect and recognition, but not your money. He did not sacrifice his life for money. He has a father who can earn for his family.
@TypicalPakistani: She runs the Malala Fund which generates millions of dollars each year. But unlike Pakistan, you cannot misuse the funds collected.
The reason you could not find any condemnation from great and mighty IK because it might hurt the feelings of handlers of suicide bomber. For Atizaz he must have tried to negotiate with the suicide bomber because who knows he might have successful parleys.
I'm in tears, a 21gun salute to the brave child ...
hope there is peace and love in south asia..
I beautiful country, a rich cultural, philosophical heritage. Brave people willing to put all on stake in what they believe. Why and how they have been driven away from common sense? On one side a suicide bomber on the other a brave lad, both best of the man kind in courage, will and humility in their own ways. What has gone wrong with Pakistan?
Where did she get this money from ?
I wrote, and then back-spaced several times for I couldn't find the words befitting enough as tribute. Rest in peace, lad. You have outdone and outshone many men we call leaders today.
The nation is stunned by the bravery of this young kid. He deserves to be conferred the highest medal awarded for bravery in war because what he did was nothing less than confronting the enemy in the war .
Those whose lives were saved owe it to this brave young man who laid his life to save them they should join up to form Atezaz Fund to help the bereaved family. I have nothing but admiration for parents who bore such a brave and fearless young man.
Now we have to wait and see what the callous government does to recognize this exemplary and ultimate sacrifice. I sometime think what our own politicians would have done if faced by a bomb laden suicide vested person. I leave this to readers imagination.
I salute to this brave kid and want to ask our govt why they are still taking interest in dialogues after assassination of chaudry Aslam?
probably one of the most justified recommendation. May Allah bless his soul.
award him and reward his family as much as you can.an all-out effort should be made to patronage his family.this would set an excellent precedent for others as well.May Allah accept his sacrifice-Amen
I salute this kid and his father for having shown bravery and courage in fighting with terrorist.
RIP Aitizaz Hasan. Salute to a true martyr and his father.
ET did not mention that kpk govt also declared Aitizaz as an Hero
Shame on our politicians who still wants dialogue with these terrorist
Brave kid
Not only this extremely brave young man, Aitzaz Hasan who had his future destroyed, but our brave policemen, each one who has given his life for Pakistan, should have a monument in each name in towns/places of origin, and indeed posthumous medals of honour. Too many good lives lost to a senseless cause while our politicians and judiciary dither. Pakistan ought to make an example of them, at the same time show their empathy towards their loved ones, feeling their loss as the nation's. They do not deserve less.
Thank you sir. May our army chief recognize bravery of Aitizaz as well.
its good but God knows when this dirty war will end.
