SUKKUR:

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah has said that the proceedings of the treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf have created an impression that he has reached a deal with the incumbent government.

“Musharraf will now continue to stay ‘sick’ and will ultimately be whisked abroad by an air ambulance,” he told journalists at a mass wedding ceremony organised by the PPP ladies wing in Sukkur on Monday.

He said the army had sent current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif abroad when he was facing life imprisonment, and would now do the same with Musharraf. “The only difference will be that Nawaz left [the country] on his feet while Musharraf will be borne away on a stretcher.”

In response to a question, he said the silence of the army over Musharraf’s statement that he enjoyed the institution’s support was tantamount to assent.

Shah also called for including the five judges who allowed Musharraf to meddle with the Constitution in the reference against the former president’s October 12 actions.

Only PPP’s elected leaders are prosecuted and persecuted in Pakistan especially by LHC and SC. Not a single rightwing politician or a general has ever been punished for their actions in a Pakistani jail. All the targeted killings and court’s shenanigans are directed toward progressive, nationalist, secular, elected leaders and never any rightwing usurper or corrupt who have stole selections and bribed political leaders against BB’s elections.
