And again…: Blast outside school damages building

Explosives were planted near the government run girls school building by militants.

BANNU: A government-run girls primary school was damaged in an explosion in Hawaid, Bannu. DSP Bannu Headquarters Sanaullah Khan said two explosions occurred at 1am which damaged the main gate of the school in Dardarez. Explosives were planted near the school building by militants. The official said one room and boundary wall of the school was destroyed as a result of the explosion after which police rushed to the area and cordoned it off. Khan said an FIR was registered against unidentified militants and a search operation was launched in the area after the incident. On December 31, militants blew up a girls middle school in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency in which the school’s watchman was killed.
