Water solutions : Minister discusses hydropower plants

The Chief Minister thanked WAPDA for its payment of Rs9 billion.

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan(G-B) Syed Mehdi Shah and WAPDA chairman Syed Raghib Abbas Shah held a meeting on Thursday, where they discussed matters pertaining to various water and hydropower projects. These included Diamer Basha Dam, Bunji Hydropower Project, Satpara Dam phase-II and the Harpo and Basho hydropower projects located in G-B. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the region possessed enormous hydropower potential. He said that “construction of various hydropower projects would go a long way in achieving socio-economic development of not only this district but would also transform the economic landscape of Pakistan.”The Chief Minister thanked WAPDA for its payment of Rs9 billion that enabled the GB government to acquire private land for the Diamer Basha Dam project.
