“It will be ensured that the decisions taken at the meeting between the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan and India will be executed,” the statement added.
The first, long-awaited meeting between the DGMOs was held on December 24 at the Wagah border to devise a plan to prevent ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir. “The agreement on ceasefire will be implemented,” the joint statement said.
The statement also revealed that illegal border crossing will be stopped and there will be an immediate flag meeting to resolve minor disputes between the two countries.
Pakistan also demanded India to stop defence structures at the working boundary. It also raised objections regarding the posting of skilled snipers by India at the boundary.
Despite the chequered history, Pakistan is hoping that the easing of tensions on the LoC will pave the way for the resumption of composite dialogue.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz had sent a letter through his special assistant to his Indian counterpart seeking early restoration of composite dialogue. Nawaz had said his government was willing to go ‘extra mile’ to improve ties with India.

@Lala Gee: Provided they are polio free!
We have the world's 7th largest armed forces, we can match India in everyway. With China being the second front...India will not sustain a war hence the reason for caution on Indian side.
I hope it will not make Indian Whisky more expensive.
i read the news and i dont have a reason to think something is going on a better way. in fact, it is impossible to make peace between india and pakistan and the reason is insincerity between two nations. india has been constructing above 150 dams and trying to stop pakistan water. this issue is much serious but surprising thing is we are conflicting in unnecessary things. our hopes are big like skies but ground realities tells the different story. first of all, we should resolve the DAMS ISSUE which have been constructing by india because pakistan future is based on it. will india stop the construction of dams? i sincerely think, not. so how something is better and how can we predict in future, things will be made better. not at all.
@Jg: Dress wont do , you have to win wars, stand proud...to first get featured.I can only imagine, rest of the Muslim Ummah counting on Pakistan and they fail 4-0.
ET.i am fed up looking at Indian army soldiers.why can't you find pak soldiers photos who are better looking, better dressed and better equipped than their eastern counterparts.please ET,be a Pakistani.and don't censor it as well.
Both countries should prevent everything which is illegal and inhuman too.
I like the way they chose this particular photo of the Indian soldier, with a schmuck on the face to feature in Pakistan.I think they are indirectly making fun of Pakistan. This was in the case of nawaz Sharif shaking hands with someone also.Well done.
Only when two countries have a stake in each other's progress and well being can there truly be peace. The only way to have such a scenario would be to increase trade and commerce between the two countries. Once this is established, you will see other issues such as Kashmir, terrorism, battle for influence on Afghanistan etc and any other pin pricks take a back seat as these two countries have a lot at stake and a lot to loose in the event of a outbreak in hostilities. The sooner the leaders of both nations recognize this, the quicker we will be on our way to ever lasting peace and security in the south asia region.
too much money involved unfortunately.
