Ambassador of Japan Hiroshi Inomata handed over a set of vehicles and equipment to the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) here on Thursday.

The equipment included state-of-the-art wheel loaders, excavators, computer numerical control (CNC) turret latches, forklifts, screen projectors, and various tools and testing machines, worth Rs176 million, said a press release.

“The assistance under the non-project grant aid (NPGA) scheme testifies to Japanese commitment to the cause of CTTI. A new technical assistance project is also being prepared to update to the curriculum of the institution,” Inomata said.

Interestingly, all the equipment was produced in the areas affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit east Japan on March 11, 2011, something the ambassador did not fail to register at the ceremony.

“The unyielding spirit of people in the disaster affected areas of Japan is a lesson
for others to overcome damages and take the economy forward with a new zeal,” maintained Inomata who thanked the government and people of Pakistan for lending a generous and speedy hand to Japan by sending emergency supplies there and genuinely sympathizing with its people during the difficult time.

It was in that spirit that the government of Japan had later designed the NPGA scheme to show its appreciation by providing Pakistan with products manufactured by companies based in east Japan.
