KARACHI:

Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party, due to meet today (Friday) in Naudero, on the sixth death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, will focus on the government’s policies regarding inflation. However, no significant decision is likely to be taken in the meeting.

“Important decision about re-organisation of the party was likely, but it has now been delayed due to local government elections,” PPP senior leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim said.

He said that the party could not afford a massive reshuffle right before the local government elections and, therefore, the issue will be taken up later.

“It was earlier decided to revamp party. But this will be done after local government polls by starting people to people contacts at gross root level,” he said, adding that some elements through massive and pre-planned rigging defeated PPP in May election.

Bilawal will not contest the election

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is not willing to contest the by-elections. “It is nothing but rumours regarding my resignation,” PPP MNA  Ayaz Soomro told The Express Tribune.

Soomro, who had contested the election from NA 204 (Larkana), said, “I am ready to tender resignation whenever the party asks for it. However, nothing has been decided so far. I am MNA and hope to complete my tenure.”
