FAISALABAD:

A woman is in critical condition after she was shot in Sahianwala on Thursday. Police said Abida Bibi, resident of Chak 45-JB, was shot at her house by Rasheed Ali and Muhammad Muzaffar apparently over a family feud. Police said Abida, who was nine months pregnant, was rushed to the hospital.

Doctors at the hospital gave birth to a boy but the newborn died a few minutes later. They said Abida’s condition was also critical. Dozens of her family members gathered outside the hospital and staged a protest demonstration. They demanded immediate arrest of those responsible. They also blocked the Sahianwala Hospital Road for traffic. The protest ended when Sahianwala police assured them that those responsible would taken to task in accordance with law.
