After Supreme Court’s orders on the missing persons case Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif finally formed a special committee to address the issue and ordered preparation of the draft of a special legislation in this regard.


“The prime minister has constituted a body to implement the apex court’s directions in letter and spirit and to resolve the issue of missing persons,” an official said, adding that the prime minister had tasked the committee to present the draft as soon as possible for discussion in the cabinet meetings before it is finally presented in the parliament.

“The high-level committee will present its suggestions to resolve the issues and the Supreme Court has been informed about this in writing,” the source said.

According to officials Defence Minister Khawaja Asif will be the chairman of the committee that will include the attorney general, interior, defence and law secretaries as its members.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said the government was progressing on an all-inclusive strategy to recover the missing persons.
