KARACHI: The pillion riding ban, in effect in Karachi on Tuesday, was extended for an additional 24 hours by the Sindh government following four consecutive explosions during chehlum processions in the city.

The extension was announced in a notification issued by the government on Tuesday evening.

An official of the Sindh home department told the Express Tribune that the ban was being extended on the request of police. The Sindh interior ministry clarified that pillion riding, which was banned in the entire province for Tuesday, was only being extended in Karachi for Wednesday.

At least four people had been killed and 24 others were wounded when three bombs exploded simultaneously in Orangi town. A bomb had also detonated on MA Jinnah road but caused no damage to life or property.
