Anti-polio campaign: CM faults past govt for poor immunisation

Says a majority of issues would be resolved if 250,000 govt employees performed their duties with honesty.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Saturday credited his government for the success of this year’s polio immunisation efforts in the province. As a result of those efforts, he said, not a single case of polio was detected in Balochistan.

At the same time, the provincial chief minister faulted the previous district administrations for the failure of the vaccination programme in the past.

Presiding over a meeting of the Anti-Polio Taskforce, Baloch said corrupt practices were to blame.

“Now officials are making serious efforts to eradicate polio from the province,” he said, adding the state of health, education and law and order would improve, if deputy commissioners paid attention to these important sectors.

“My government has successfully reopened 306 out of 600 schools which were closed in the province,” he told the meeting.



Dr Baloch also said that a majority of the issues would get resolved if 250,000 government employees performed their duties with honesty.

Meanwhile, Balochistan health department informed the chief minister that a dental college is due to be inaugurated next year in March.

Health Minister Rehmat Baloch said hospitals in Panjgur, Zhob, Naushki, Jafarabad, Gwadar and Nasirabad had been made functional in the past six months with the appointment of gynecologists and general physicians.
