KBC outrow rivals on day two

Hosts win nine gold medals to strengthen lead in international regatta.

Karachi Boat Club (KBC) continued to dominate the 72nd Amateur Rowing Association of the East-Far East Amateur Rowing Association (ARAE-FEARA) Chinna Creek international regatta on day two.


The hosts took nine gold medals, while Madras Boat Club and the Rowing Centre won three gold medals each, whereas Colombo Rowing Club finished on the first position in two out of 18 races held on Saturday.

KBC’s Hassan Currimbhoy secured the top position with six points in the ARAE men’s single skull competition, Colombo Rowing Club’s Shehan Muthugala finished second and Calcutta Rowing Club’s Arnesh Kumar took the bronze medal.

In the women’s events, Colombo Rowing Club’s Samaakhya Yavani de Silva took the gold medal, Madras Boat Club’s Sankavi Puhaihendi took silver, KBC’s Maham Mustafa finished third.

KBC’s Khurram Khwaja also dominated the men’s super master single skull event with six points.
