ISLAMABAD:

For the second day in a row, opposition MPs boycotted proceedings in the National Assembly in protest against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s allegedly offensive remarks about their actions.

Both the government and opposition stuck to their guns.

Two opposition parties – the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – said they would boycott the proceedings until the interior minister apologised for using the word ‘tamasha’ or drama with regard to their flurry of questions, allegations and demands over thumb impression verification of voters.

“We will not attend the session until the interior minister withdraws his remarks,” PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters at Parliament House.
