GUJRANWALA: State Minister for Commerce and Textile Industry Khurram Dastagir Khan, his father and his father-in-law were attacked at a local restaurant in Gujranwala on early Friday, Express News reported.

According to details, the minister was having dinner with his family at a local restaurant in his home town when armed men tried to take pictures of minister and his family without their permission.

When minister tried to stop them, it led to an argument. This infuriated the men who started throwing crockery at the family and assaulted minister and his father-in-law. His young son and nephew also suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.

When his family finally left the restaurant, the armed men tried to block the road, stated the Ministry of Commerce and Textile Industry in a release issued shortly after the incident. The release also stated that the minister and his family had only one security guard accompanying them.

Police arrived at the scene soon after the incident to bring the situation under control. Officials said that they have arrested nine people who were involved in the attack.

The minister tweeted from ministry's account that he his family were harassed and kept hostage for 30 minutes.

Dastagir in a subsequent tweet claimed that he was accompanied by only one guard.

The minister added that at the time he was with his five year-old son, his young nephew and father-in-law who suffered cuts and wounds from broken glass.

Correction: An earlier version of the article incorrectly stated that the minister was with his father.

A defence person | 10 years ago | Reply Every individual has a right to his privacy, taking pictures of a Minister is not a problem but breaking the privacy barrier may be something the minister may be worried about. If his family was with him there, no one has the right to take his or his families picture and once again people have taken paparazziism in there hands and got the reply they deserved.
