ISLAMABAD: Scores of Olympians on Thursday held a protest demonstration outside Parliament House against what they called the ‘bogus’ elections of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

Akhtar Rasool and Rana Mujahid were elected unopposed as president and secretary respectively for a term of four years on November 24, 2012.

“We are here to record our peaceful protest. If our demands are not fulfilled then we have no option to besiege parliament” said former hockey great Shahnaz Sheikh.

The other Olympians who participated in the protest included Qamar Ibrahim, Samiullah Khan, Salim Sherwani, Islahuddin Siddiqui, Shahnaz Sheikh, Ayaz Mahmood, and Muhammad Saqlain.

They alleged that during that last five years, hockey was badly damaged by the governing body of the game; therefore, free and fair elections should be conducted in order to better the game.
