An official of the political administration said the incident occurred when Fazal Amin, a resident of Jamrud Bazaar, was returning home in his car after dropping his children to school.

Two men travelling on a motorcycle intercepted his car and opened fire, killing Amin on the spot, the official said, adding Khasadar officials deployed in the area rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Jamrud Civil Hospital for autopsy. Khyber Agency Political Agent Mutahir Zaib Khan later directed political administration officials of Jamrud to ban motorcycle riding in the sub-division for an indefinite period to curb militancy. Resultantly, officials informed locals not to use motorcycles as it would lead to an arrest and a fine while the vehicle would be confiscated by the administration.
