After the fact: More security around 18 imambargahs

Some 18 imambargahs in the twin cities have been declared “most sensitive” by intelligence agencies.

RAWALPINDI: Some 18 imambargahs in the twin cities have been declared “most sensitive” by intelligence agencies.

Following fresh reports, the police have chalked out a new plan and tightened security around each of them. A police officer said that a report compiled by an intelligence agency suggested extra security measures be taken around sensitive imambargahs as terrorists could attack them during chehlum processions.

In Islamabad, security at five imambargahs in sectors G-6/2, G-6/4, G-9/2, G-9/4 and G-10/4 has been enhanced. Similarly in Rawalpindi, the district police will take extra security measures around 13 imambargahs. He said additional policemen have been deployed while police patrolling has also been enhanced.
