Curtain raiser: Conference on security to begin on Wednesday

A two-day Conference on Regional and National Security will kick off in Islamabad on Wednesday. The event is being organised by Strategic Vision Institute, Islamabad (SVI) in conjunction with German Foundation Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).


The conference event will bring together leaders from many disciplines to address the most important drivers that are shaping the security policies of the South Asian region, particularly Pakistan. They will also assess the international factors that influence these policies apart from examining conventional and non-conventional threats to the region.

The conference has been divided into five sessions covering important aspects pertaining to the matrix of South Asian regional security, role of extra-regional powers in South Asian security, Pakistan’s national security/ policy: conceptual framework, process and formulation, non-conventional challenges to Pakistan’s national security, and conventional threats to pakistan’s national security.
