Lawyer seeks court action against continued power outages

Lawyer files petition in LHC against Punjab power management and supply authorities.

LAHORE: A local lawyer on Tuesday sought court action against WAPDA, the Ministry of Water & Power and PEPCO in lieu of the power outages that continue to plague Punjab.

The contempt of court petition, filed by the lawyer, implores that the court take notice against the power management and supply authorities in question for turning a blind eye to its instructions, following  the Lahore High Court’s earlier issuance of an order against the implementation of unannounced power outages.

Despite PEPCO’s claims that it has significantly reduced durations of power shortages from eight to three hours a day, load shedding continues to hinder crop cultivation and disrupt citizens’ daily routines as well as contribute towards further water shortages across the province.
