10 ministries to be abolished: PM

Gilani says the ministries will be abolished in the next 2 months to streamline governance.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that 10 ministries will be abolished in the next two months. He said the move would streamline governance.

Speaking to NGO and media representatives in Islamabad on Monday, he said that the government would never compromise on national security and neither would it accept dictation from another entity.

He said that the civilian government and military leadership should have the same stance on national security and that consensus will be developed over all issues of interest. Gilani said that 40 billion rupees had been allocated for rehabilitating flood survivors and the government was utilising all possible resources.

tuba | 14 years ago | Reply 10 is too little. Abolish about 20. Pakistan has more cabinet member then USA which has 300 million people. We have triple the cabinet members of Nigeria which has 150 million people. But then again, our ministries don't do anything besides distribute political patronage.
