Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah al-Sheikh branded suicide bombers as ‘criminals’ who will go to ‘hell’, Al-Hayat daily reported on Thursday.
“Suicide bombings are great crimes and bombers are “criminals who rush themselves to hell by their actions,” Sheikh said during a lecture in Riyadh a few days ago, according to Al-Hayat.
Sheikh described suicide bombers as “robbed of their minds ... who have been used (as tools) to destroy themselves and societies.”
In February 2010, Sheikh denounced terrorism as un-Islamic and condemned the killing of civilians, saying such attacks have nothing to do with the Muslim religion.
His latest remarks come after a preliminary inquiry into a December 5 suicide car bombing and assault on a Yemen defence ministry complex found that most assailants were Saudis. Fifty-six people were killed in the attack. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the attack.

They first support these terrorists and than call them criminals once they get out of control. Can saudis and their clerics now dissociate themselves from JI, TTP, and other extremists religious parties and leave pakistan alone to deal with them.
No religion allows self destruction and killing of innocent people. Should we be surprise at the decree of the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia? I guess not! Basic humanity teaches us to treat each other with respect and dignity. No one will deny that it is wrong to use religion to justify killings. It is heartening news that a Muslim leader of stature came out to condemn suicide bombing. We really hope this resonates with the people who are exploiting young children to give up their live on a wrong pretext. This is for sure; no one is a winner when suicide bombing occurs.

While it is a welcome development, what saddens me is that it took the death of few Saudis for this statement to come about. I wish the blood of thousands across the globe who have suffered at the hand of these terrorists mattered as much.
How about the people who recruit, train, and direct suicide bombers. How about the countries which provide sanctuary to terrorist which use suicide bombers as weapons?
We need a massive strategy where senior clerics like him should come to Pakistan, and their message is spread through media and also to our local clerics.

The spread of Islam like wildfire was achieved only and only through good habits and characteristics of those new Muslims, true Muslims displayed in their deeds. To overcome all their problems Lord Creator invited Muslims to come to rally round no one but Him so they could unite to do all the good work. Do we see anyone, anywhere coming together to rally round no one but the Lord Creator to join hands with each other so they could unite. Unite to bring about Justice, fairplay, good order thus peace into our troubled world? Do we? No. We do not. What does thay mean? Muslims are in short supply. For all the time there are people who do not accept and practise Lord's invitation in coming together to join hands with each other to bring peaceful living in their localities they will continue to suffer all the troubles they are enduring today. We see all around everywhere none but fake Jews, fake Christians, fake Muslims claiming to be what they are not. Please correct me if I am wrong.
