KARACHI: Representatives of over 33 Indian companies have reached Karachi to showcase their products in the second India Expo – a three-day exhibition being organised at the Karachi Expo Centre.
The exhibition, which will be inaugurated on Friday (today), is being supported by the Federation of Indian Exporting Organisation (FIEO) in collaboration with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
FIEO is an apex body of Indian export promotion organisations set up jointly by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and the trade and industry in 1965.
Indian companies, taking part in the second edition of the Indian Expo, are coming from diverse fields like textiles, spices, dairy and foods, machinery including diesel engines and electrical equipment, cosmetics, footwear, jewellery, etc.
Organisers of the event say that the first edition of the expo was so successful that they planned another fair this year.
The first India Expo was organised at the Karachi Expo Centre in December 2012, which was the first of its kind exhibition in Karachi. Last year, 65 representatives of 35 companies came to Pakistan to display their products.
The exhibition is part of an initiative taken by the previous PPP-led coalition government and the Indian government in 2012 to promote each other’s products in the two countries.
