ISLAMABAD: The government is working on a plan to establish a National Curriculum Commission to ensure uniformity in education and also fill the gaps between federal and provincial governments.

Minister of State for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, Muhammad Balighur Rehman said this while addressing a seminar here on “From Education and Health to Sustainable Development,” organised by Radio Pakistan in collaboration with UNESCO.

The minister said the government was committed to increasing education budget up to four percent of GDP in a gradual manner. “We are concerned about ratio of dropout children from schools and taking steps to discourage this trend,” he said. The minister of state said that with the consultation of provincial governments, the government has developed a consolidated plan of education.
