Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Saturday directed its district chapters to lay groundwork for the upcoming local government (LG) elections.
JI’s district amirs from across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) along with cabinet members in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led provincial government met at the party’s provincial headquarters, Al Markaz-al Islami, under the chair of provincial amir Professor Mohammad Ibrahim.
A statement issued following the meeting said the party’s office bearers from across the province presented district reports before the provincial leadership during the meeting. It added the leadership also directed district chapters to prepare for the upcoming polls.
The statement quoted Professor Mohammad Ibrahim telling the meeting his party was an effective political force in K-P, destined to emerge victorious.
JI ministers in the K-P government including Minister for Finance Sirjaul Haq, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayatyllah Khan and Minister for Zakat and Usher Haji Habibur Rehman attended the meeting.
Participants urged the government to improve the law and order situation and demanded immediate recovery of Dr Amjad Taqweem, who was kidnapped earlier this week. JI ministers also spoke on the occasion and were directed by the party to closely coordinate with party workers and the public.
