Militants kill policeman, injure another near Bannu

Group of up to five militants threw hand grenades and later opened fire at a police check post.

PESHAWAR: Militants killed one policeman and wounded another in an attack on a checkpost near Bannu, officials said on Thursday.

The attack took place on the outskirts of Bannu town, which has seen several terrorist attacks in the past - many of them targeting security officials.

"A group of up to five militants riding motorbikes attacked the checkpost late Wednesday night, threw hand grenades and later opened fire, killing one policeman and wounding another one," local police official Noor Wali said.

Senior local police official Iqbal Khan also confirmed the incident.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

Previous attacks

On November 13, three suspected militants were killed and two police officials injured in an attack on Sheikh Landak police check-post in Hawaid area of Bannu.

On November 5, a police official was killed and another was injured when militants had attacked the Sur Pal check post in Serai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat late at night.

They are rebels not militants! Just like u report the militants in Kashmir as rebels. ET, a media organization should not report and massage news articles selectively.
