Asmatullah Wazir, a political administration official in Jamrud, said the incident occurred at around 10am when an FC vehicle carrying officials was going from Jamrud Bazaar to Sakhi Pul. The bomb was planted on the road in Malik Shagha, which destroyed the pickup and severely injured four officials identified as Rafiq, Zabitullah, Rasool Khan and Javaid. They were taken to Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar.
Following the blast, a search operation was launched and routes leading up to the area were closed. Wazir said a bystander and her two young sons were injured when FC officials opened fire at them over suspicion.
The woman was identified as the wife of Ahmad Noor and was taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar.
He added the IED was detonated through a remote-controlled device. Soon after the explosion, Khyber Rifles Commandant Mansoor Janjua visited the site and directed authorities to take stern action against those responsible.
