Anti-dengue efforts: Surveillance of breeding sites ordered

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Khalid Masud Chaudhary has ordered surveillance of potential dengue mosquito breeding sites and has also directed officials to urgently finalise a dengue control capacity-building plan. The instructions were issued to health officials during an anti-dengue review meeting that was attended by the district coordination officer (DCO), additional deputy commissioner (ADC), provincial government officials and representatives of cantonment boards. He also directed the meeting to make general medical practitioners and staff at private nursing homes a part of the training programme to improve the health delivery system including basic health units in rural areas. City administration officials have been ordered to liaise with health officials to ensure quality medical facilities are provided in all health outlets. Tehsil municipal officers were also directed to take action against the people caught throwing waste into Nullah Leh.
