Earlier this month, the Election Commission of Pakistan had announced that LG polls would be held on January 18 in Sindh.
However, Sindh local government and information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon today said holding elections in January is not possible and that they should be delayed till March.
He further said that the provincial government is legally allowed to devise poll schedule with the help of ECP.

Date: The Supreme Court wanted polls to be held on November 27 in Sindh, however they were delayed because of delimitation-related issues.
Type: The constitution has left it up to the provinces to decide whether they want local candidates to contest the elections on a party ticket or independently. The Sindh government decided to hold elections on party basis.
Reservations: Constitutionally, all elected councils are required to reserve seating for minorities. The way Sindh has decided to organise local elections is stated below:
