DARGAI:

Three people were killed and three others injured in Dargai Bazaar of Malakand Agency on Saturday.

Dargai Levies official Sahib Rahman said the incident occurred at around 11am. He explained Syed Karim was on his way to Dargai Bazaar, where he runs a shop. His rivals, Ayub Khan and his relatives, stopped him near the bazaar and tried to harass him.

According to Rahman, Karim drew his pistol and fired, injuring Ayub severely. Ayub’s relatives rushed to Karim’s house and opened fire at his family members, killing Karim’s 12-year-old daughter Faryal and his mother-in-law Wazira.

The official said relatives of Ayub then came to Dargai Bazaar and opened fire at Karim’s sons in their shop, injuring Altaf and Mehran along with a shopkeeper, Hayat Khan.

Shopkeepers from the bazaar rushed the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where Karim’s son Mehran succumbed to his injuries. The other two injured were referred to a hospital in Peshawar.

The official said one of Ayub’s accomplices, identified as Amjad Hussain, barged into the hospital to kill Karim’s other son, Altaf, but was arrested by levies officials. Separate cases were filed against Altaf and his relatives; further investigation is underway.
